Free Nautical book giveaway!

bookpile

How’s that for a pile of books?

And how would you like to win some of them?

The sun is out, so are the daffodils, and next week the clocks go forward. Spring fever has reached the Adlard Coles Nautical office, and we’re having a giveaway.

Up for grabs are books from across the entire Adlard Coles list, from old favourites to new releases, practical sailing books to funny bunkside reads. Everything’s there, from Brendan Hall’s inspirational and gripping Team Spirit to perennial favourite Celestial Navigation for Yachtsmen by Mary Blewitt.

We’re going to be giving away at least one of these books every day until they’re gone.

To be in with a chance, we want you to tell us, in a sentence, your favourite place to sail to, and why.

Simple. The best, most interesting, most unique, funniest, etc, etc will get a book. And to begin with, we’ll let the first few winners pick which book they want from the pile.

You can enter in a variety of ways:
– Leave your comment here
– Post a comment on our Facebook page
– Tweet your answer @ReedsNautical (and please retweet the competition!)

We reserve the right to reproduce the winning entries on social media.

  1. I would sail to the big island of Hawaii with my trusted copy of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to breathe, read, eat and drink chocolate surrounded by the Cacao trees, bliss!

  2. Great idea for a competition!

My favourite place to sail is the Southern Ionian because, although we now sail from Gosport, island hopping around the med was where my love of sailing first started on family flotilla holidays; swimming from the boat in secluded bays, seeing goats scramble up the cliffs and spending endless happy hours in the sunshine! 🙂

  3. Hi Julie and Maddi,

We liked both your suggestions. Chocolate and sunshine don’t really go together, but they’re two of our favourite things here in the Adlard Coles office!

Please send me your postal addresses to jonathan.eyers@bloomsbury.com

If you have a preference for what book you would like from the pile, please include that in your email. Actually, perhaps name 3 or 4 – we’re running the competition on Twitter and Facebook too, so it’s first come first served amongst our winners!

  4. I would love to sail in the seas which are featured in Moomin books and tv-series. Those places sound wonderful and are full of mysteries 🙂

  5. I love to sail past the stacs of St Kilda where I feel as if my boat is on the edge of the universe and the great Greek God, Poseidon, is lurking in a sea cave. And I love to get home again too!
